Tonight the YF made promise jars for 8 people in our church who suffer from physical ailments.
The fourth segment of the fruit of the spirit is longsuffering or patience. The promise jar instructions are posted here: promise jar
Each jar was filled with 14 promises/envelopes, a photo, some dried fruit and a message :)
This was our message inside the jar:
The Ebenezer Youth Fellowship’s theme for 2015 is “Bear
Fruit!” and we are currently studying the Fruit of the Spirit (Gal 5:22-23).
This month we have studied the fruit of longsuffering or patience.
We often hear people being called “short tempered” but we hardly hear somebody being “long tempered”. As Christians we must be willing to yield our time to others and indeed we have learned that it is very difficult in our culture that idolizes productivity and speed. One of the biggest obstacles to cultivating patience is our understanding of time. Every hour we often find ourselves glancing at our clock and we treat time like a commodity; spending, buying, saving, wasting and investing it. Thus we quickly become impatient and angry the moment things become delayed.

We thank God that He is a slow and patient to anger (Ps
103:8) and is never in a hurry. He tells us to live with the perspective of His
timing (Ecc 3), which is perfect and beautifully revealed to us according to
His good pleasure. Time should not be viewed as scarce, but rather God’s grace
should enable us to enjoy it as a gift to experience life more abundantly with
Jesus. We must devote time to God
and our neighbours, therefore being good stewards of His time and using it
wisely.
Therefore we have made these “Promise Jars” which are filled
with God’s promises to us as we travel through life. The idea is to open one
envelope a day and meditate upon the verse. Then honestly reflect upon your
life and purpose to apply God’s promise to your heart. We have lAfter earnt from the
life of David that the only way to produce the fruit of the Holy Spirit is if
we focus on God and patiently grow in His knowledge and grace.
“That ye might walk
worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and
increasing in the knowledge of God; Strengthened with all might, according to
his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness; giving
thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the
inheritance of the saints in light…” Colossians 1:10-12
The Bear Fruit project night was really successful, I was so proud of everyone's efforts!!
The week before I invited Bel, Choo, Esther and Joey over for brunch and they helped me fold all the envelopes for these jars. We folded over 100 envelopes which was a great effort :) These envelopes were then packaged into each jar and were given to a pair of youths who had to cut out bible verses to put into each envelope. They also wrote a personal message and decorated the outside and on Sunday they personally delivered it to them. It was encouraging to see everyone work hard and deliver them.
This YF was also a cottage meeting onesie night :) It just added to the fun of BFP nights.

:D I love all these guys and it was fantastic to see them dedicate a night to bearing fruit for God.
